Arguably the two best teams in world football right now, and their fixture did not disappoint. The Etihad was rock and rolling but Liverpool replied perfectly to all questions Pep’s team asked.

Just as the 2nd half kicked off, Sadio Mane saw himself through making a darting run on goal. Salah delivered a nicely weighed through ball which let the Senegalese forward finish it past Ederson first time.

Liverpool sit just one point below Manchester City after this draw as nothing changed after a potential title decider.

Manchester City dominated possession and had the majority of chances, including one for Sterling. However, Liverpool’s pure quality in their starting XI ensured the Reds always maintained a level of threat.

Pep Guardiola’s surprise for the game with Gabriel Jesus’ first start in months certainly paid off too. The Brazilian contributed well in pressing as well as bagging himself a key goal ahead of half time.

One thing for sure, now dubbed the English ‘El Clasico’, the game certainly showed why it’s a Box Buster.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, however share a friendly rivalry, or frenemies to say so. Post match, there’s a video of Jurgen Klopp jokingly dashing away after seeing Pep Guardiola arrive, for hilarious viewing.

Just before Sunday’s all crucial fixture, Jurgen Klopp has showered his rival Pep Guardiola in high praises. The German has called his Spanish compatriot Pep Guardiola the best manager in the world.

Not sure many Reds fans would agree with that one, though. The Gaffer’s comments came after Pep Guardiola jokingly admitted to overthinking allegations in the Champions League.

Guardiola commented that the solution to his overthinking might be to just ‘play with 12 players.’ This comes as City have blown away their huge lead in the league over Liverpool from the start of the year.

Jurgen Klopp when asked about Guardiola’s comments, he went onto explain what Pep actually meant. Read what the German said below.

“It was ironic! I saw there was a story in Ecuador this week which claimed I didn’t understand Luis Diaz. You[journalists] have a responsibility on this planet.

If you want to talk to us then please do us a favour and help us. Pep said ironically, ‘I overthink, and I like overthinking’.”

Not only this, the German then went onto claim Guardiola is the best manager in the world.

“Pep is the best coach in the world. I think we would all agree on that and it might be a coincidence that it didn’t work out in the Champions League so far. If anybody doubts him, I have no idea how that could happen.”

The Bromance goes both ways, as well. Pep has several times termed Klopp’s Liverpool as the toughest team he’s ever encountered.

Guardiola says Klopp makes world football a ‘better place’

When asked about he thinks of Klopp’s comments, Pep denied that he thinks he’s the best. He further said he’d love to have a drink with the German if City won the game, jokingly.

“Jurgen makes world football a better place to live. His message, he is a huge competitor.”

Over the likes of SAF’s Man United, Jose’s Madrid and Inter, and even Simeone’s Atleti. Needless to say, Klopp rightly deserves that praise. Out of all those managers, Klopp has the best record against Guardiola.

Many have termed this game as the biggest in recent English history and dubbed the English ‘El Clasico’.

The duo are evenly tied at 9 wins each and 4 draws out of their 22 encounters throughout the years. The game is setting up to be a potential title decider with Liverpool in red hot form currently.

It was a classic Champions League night out for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp as they demolished Benfica. The Reds scored thrice, conceding just one playing away at the Estádio da Luz in Portugal.

Benfica did try to fight back and got back 1 goal courtesy D. Nunez after conceding twice. However, the Reds gained back their 2 goal advantage over Benfica with a Luis Diaz goal 3 mins off the 90 min mark.

The game kicked with Liverpool getting a flurry of chances, but struck from a corner as Konate scored a towering header. Just at 34 minutes, and 17 minutes after their first goal, Liverpool scored a stunning direct goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold played in one of his signature cross the field long balls to Luis Diaz. The Uruguayan with his presence of mind cushioned the ball with a header for Sadio Mane to tap in.

The 23 year old right back keeps showing why he’s one of the best, if not the best in the world at his position.

Reds got plenty of chances afterwards to increase their lead, including a 1v1 for Salah, who was denied. At the start of the second half, Liverpool’s defense was caught napping as Nunez got a clear chance and he turned it in.

This saw Benfica try to fight their way back into the game with only a 1 goal difference. Yet, with all their efforts, the Portuguese side was unable to increase their score-line.

Liverpool’s perseverance paid off finally, with Luis Diaz getting a run at Benfica’s defense in the dying minutes. The forward ran at the defense and winded up the keeper before finishing it off for the Reds with ease.
